EU invests in flying cars

Flying cars may be part of our reality sooner than we think. The European Union will invest 4.2 million euros in the project entitled «myCopter» for the study of personal aircraft (PVA) (born. Rersonal Aerial Vehicles, or PAVs) for the most densely populated cities in Europe. The idea is to try to resolve the multiple problems that may arise from the introduction of the consumption of futuristic flying cars.

To avoid collisions with commercial aircraft (outside-managed aeroprostora), it is assumed that myCopter will fly at an altitude of 2,000 feet (about 605 meters). In this case there are questions of existing legislation aeroprostora security, parking and planting.

"Security issues - important issues that require a lot of attention when the project becomes a reality myCopter. We assume that automation will play an important and decisive role in the whole transport system "- explains Dr. Byultgof. "It is very likely that the area will be created, where PVS will not be able to fly because of their automation systems on board simply did not allow them to go there."

With «myCopter» can decrease the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the long run, because the flight is almost "straight", which makes the trip more efficient. The researchers measured the project that will travel 62 miles shorter. This will allow them to be fully electric.

"Already, there are technologies such as eCO2Avia, from EADS, which show that the vertical takeoff using electricity is possible, even if the diesel generators still require charging for the continuous flight" - adds Dr. Byultgof.
